Our new puppy

Why do puppies mean so much work? Our new puppy Beauty Belle seems to be more work then even my rowdy kids! Beauty will eat anything. She loves to ruin my nylons when I am wearing them. She finds new things to get into all the time. She is helping our other dog though, Jasmine is so happy to have a friend. They play all the time. Jazz is not leaving home as much. So this is perfect. Tomarrow we get the fence fixed and then the kids and dogs shoudl be able to play outside more, of course this week si really really colg for Georgia, but not quite wisconsin weather so I guess it's still good. Well here is my salute today to doggies, viva la bone!

Hello Everyone!

Hello. I am Mindy and hope you enjoy my new blog. I tend to write about scrapbooking, art, autism, disability and advocacy. I am currently a stay at home mom although that does not describe my days or my life! I am really a workaholic who does not get paid but volunteers all her time at a non profit agency called Muscogee County Navigator Team/ Parent to Parent of GA. I will write more later about all that though.

First I am 35 almost 36. March 21 is my birthday. I recently accomplished a life goal of mine- In May 2008 I got my masters degree in Public Policy Administration and Non Profit Management. I have been accepted into the doctoral program and am working on many masterpieces including a dissertation on Advocacy and Social Change. For fun I scrapbook, or create artwork. I love paper arts, cardmaking and making layouts. I enjoy using my cricut expressions tool to amazing things. I also read mysteries, true crime and forensic books. My favorite color is lime green which always seems to make me smile, and I have an addiction to starbucks white hot chocolate with hazlenut flavoring and whipped cream.

I have a wonderful and amazing family. My husband is Mike who is 40, works at Fort Benning army post as a civilian, now that he was medically discharged many years ago. He is going back to school to get his masters in emergency management. He has Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism, but he is brillant and has touched many lives, including mine. We have been married 12 years on January 18, but been together much longer. He is my best friend and love. Life would never be the same without him.

My children are adorable and all unique. My oldest, Wesley is 12. That is such a hard year, not quite a teen and no longer a child. He has overcome so much in his lifetime, as he also has Asperger Syndrome and many other disabilities but it has never stopped him from doing anytihng. Wes loves history, especially military history and star wars. Francie my middle child is simply incredible. She has been diagnosed with so many disabilities and sicknesses in her short life. She is 7, and named after my favorite women. She is named Francine Noramay. Her first name is after my wonderful granny who died in a terrible action of domestic violence, my aunt who was murdered when I was young ( her name was Blanche Nora) and my mama. My mom, named Joesphine May, died many years ago but we share a middle name which I bestowed on Francie as well, by combining Nora and May. Francie has pervasive Developmental Delay, otherwise known as PDD, and it too is on the Autism Spectrum. She also has been diagnosed with possible childhood onset of bipolar disorder but she has worked so hard to overcome these disabilites. She learned to talk even though many said she would not. She loves art and uses it daily. She's her mama's kid! She is a huge fan of Hannah Montanna, and loves dance too. She currently is almost integrated into a first grade classroom, but more about that later. My baby is now 4, she is Rebekah Anne. Beka, as we call her is so amazing and smart! She has recently been asked to apply for a gift program in preschool, and I am very very proud of her. She loves fish, and just yesterday shared she hoped to be a mermaid painter. Not sure if she means she wants to be a mermaid and paint or be a painter who paints mermaids!

We also have pets in our family. Where to start? We just added to our growing petting zoo! We have 2 cats named Puzzle and Peace, a dog named Princess Jasmine, a puppy named Beauty Belle, 2 bearded dragons named Captain Kirk and Godzilla, a plated lizard named Glitter Stripes, and last night we got two new fish named Rainbow and Stripe ( I think, but the girls may change their minds today, who knows?)

Well I think that is it for an introduction so far! Hope you will enjoy my ideas, creative projects, and hopes to spread information and advocacy across the world.
